Have you asked your employer? Does HMRC believe that you have two jobs? What was the code on your P45?
There are 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who do not.

    will ask employer tomorrow.

tax code on p45 was 1000l.

will phone hmrc but thought id ask here first if there was an obvious answer.
  • HMRC may have received notification of your new job before they received the P45 from your old job. So, at that point, it will have appeared on their system as though you have two jobs. Sounds like their system has split the 10,000 allowances equally between the two jobs. If you phone them, they can correct it.
