Slow Progress

Hi all :)

I just wanted a little bit of a moan somewhere people would get what I mean.

I have a plan of paying off my debts, of saving money for maternity leave and a longer term plan (once debts gone) to overpay my mortgage. It wasn't always like this but a combination of terror and YNAB has really helped sort it all out.

But does anyone else struggle with how LONG it all takes? I have a DFD of next June, I'm 3 months into the plan, and I'm BORED of waiting already. I don't want time to speed up as such but god, the next few months are just dragging their heels.

I think I have patience issues :rotfl:

I think I've just noticed the passage from being the one stressed to the hilt and having anxiety attacks about it all (as well as shame, self hating, the usual) to being in a position where I'm just waiting.

It's a weird place to be and you're right, I should be enjoying it more.

    No, you're right.

Thanks to YNAB and a new better spending plan, pretty much nothing happens to me financially after about the 5th of the month. There is only so many times you can reconcile accounts. I pay this month's debt account and that is it, wait another 30 days, rinse and repeat. You are right, it is boring and feels like it is taking an age.

I have a debt free day of next August and I keep telling myself that it is now under 12 months away, and it is easy etc. The waiting still gets to me. I have finished all the reconciliation for this month. All the food is bought, all the bills paid. No money needs to be spent between now and next pay day.

Sorry, it's You Need a Budget. Recommended to me from someone on here and it's the first time budgeting anything has ever clicked for me. I love it and it's really helping me see where money is going and where it could be used better.

LOL It's good to know I'm not the only one fed up reconciling accounts I know are fine! YNAB is usually much more up to date than my bank too, which is weird.

I haven't bought all my food or fuel etc (or clothes, man I need some new clothes) as I only get paid at the end of a month, but it's all there just waiting in the right budget line. It feels wrong.

I get money paid into my account a massive 11 times a month(child tax once a week, IS twice a month,CB once a week,on a different day to CTC and child maintenance once a month). When I was working it was almost the same as the CTC would go in once a week, CB once a week but on a different day and then wages once a month and maintenance. So I do go into YNAB quite a lot but after the bills are paid for that week and food bought and money sent to the debts it is very much a waiting game-I find myself wishing I could send a bit extra to the debts and try and get it down quicker. It's nice having a plan in place though and knowing exactly what I've got.

Yes I keep trying to cut down spending in other categories to boost the debt payments. And to sum degree I have managed it but not very much (I know every bit helps etc).

I really need to work on the food costs though, we spend way too much. Being 20weeks pregnant, writing up a dissertation, having a toddler and working full time means I can't either be arsed or have the time to do the food thing properly. Need to find some motivation for that really.

Why dont you use YNAB? I do...

Enter your spending as splits and then you can analyse it later. You cant fix what you dont understand.
