Declaring Surveys/becoming self employed?

Hi, sorry to gatecrash but I have a question linked to mat leave and being self employed.
I have a main job which I am salaried for, and if we are lucky enough to have a child, would get SMP.
However, I do earn 2500 a year from private music tuition which I declare to HMRC. Would I still be able to do this if I was earning SMP?
Many thanks,

You can only work for your 10 KIT days, whether self-employed or not. So if you can do the tuition in your 10 days, and don't visit your normal worklace at all, then yes, if not then no.
If in doubt you'll be best to ring up HMRC and speak to them when the time comes, as the rules change from time to time. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Thanks
