British Beer Case using BA miles (Avios)
For those of you with extra British Airways miles (called "Avios"), I can highly recommend using 7,000 Avios to get a case of British Beer. There are four different beers in the case of 20 (5 bottles of each type of beer) and they all taste great! The description of the beers, which are all ales, is:
"Take a rousing tour of Britain with this best of British case of fine beers. Wild Hare is a golden, organic ale that hails from historic Bath. Cross the border to Oxford and you’ll find ‘Old Hooky,’ Hook Norton’s fruity and well-rounded ale. To complete your case, you’ve two smooth northern gems. Black Cat from Lancashire’s Moorhouse brewery with hints of chocolate and coffee, and Joseph Holt’s Derbyshire ale, J Holy Maple Moon, with a unique maple flavouring."
They also have a case of Continental Beer (again with four different beers). I've tried these too and I didn't like them. They all looked like lagers to me and only two of the four beers were worth drinking. The other two had a strong perfume-like odour/taste and weren't good at all. 0

Could you point me in the right direction please?
I have 200,000 Avios at the moment so spending 7000 on a pressie for hubbys sounds great.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Dont worry OP I found them !
6 bottles of beer for 7000 BA Avios, that works out at £130 for 6 bottles if you were to buy the equivalent in Avios
Think I will keep my BA Avios for a reward flight.

The desciption doesn't actually say how many bottles are in the case, but I know there are 20 because I've ordered and received several cases already. The case actually comes from Laithwaites which must have a relationship with BA.
The value of an Avios is debatable, but if we assume 1000 Avios is about £8, then 7000 would be about £56. That's about £2.80 per bottle. You may be able to buy the beers cheaper elsewhere, but the deal includes delivery. And if you don't have another use for your Avios, beer sounds like a good option. (I could get another 36 cases with all of my unused Avios, but I can't drink it that fast!)

No, you must be looking at the wrong site. The case of beer has 20 bottles; i.e. 5 bottles of each of the four different beers. In the 'Spending Avios' page of British Airways, go to 'buy wine with Avios', agree that you are 18+, then select 'Beer' in the Choose Category. (MSE isn't letting me post a direct link.)

Thanks for letting me know that there are 20 in a case, as you say, it doesnt state on the website.
Not sure where you get 1000 Avios for £8 when in actual fact it would cost £31?
7000 costs £127 according to British Airways https://www.britishairways.com/travel/purchase-avios/execclub/_gf/en_gb?eId=115002&purchaseType=Buy
So £127 works out at £6.35 a bottle :eek:I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. It's probably better to value Avios on their opportunity for use. According to an MSE article (search for "boost-avios-points" in MSE Main site), the value of 1,000 Avios can be worth anything from £1 to £50 depending on how you spend them. For example, it states that for return tickets to Paris, Lille or Brussels, 1,000 Avios points are worth £8ish, hence my use of the value of £8 for 1,000 Avios. Thus 7,000 Avios would be £56 translating to £2.80 per bottle of beer.
In my case, I don’t travel via BA anymore so my opportunity for use is zero thus making the beer effectively free.
