Hi all,
been in the brown stuff for so long now that I havn't even considered becoming debt free for MANY MANY years, was more interested in making sure that there was enough money to cover everything.... my SOA had been picked to death and there was no more savings to be made, on top of that the BOE decision to keep upping the base rate meant that the house was looking pretty dodgy to!
But this was to be a blessing, my introductory rate with NR was up, and without the rate increases i would not have noticed, but I contacted them asking about a review and they very happily told me that I could remortgage, pay of everything I owe and still be spending £500 a month less than I am now!
I know that it is robbing peter to pay paul but the delight at being able to forget about all my old student debts and pre MSE things has certainly made me and the wife sleep a lot eisier.
I need to thank everyone on here who has been so helpfull, especially with dealing with CSL! it truley has been a pleassure (you guys, not CSL)
anyway off the the mortgage free board now, but I won't forget you, and for all you newbies who maybe arn't so sure what the future holds, things can and will get better, all it takes is a bit of hard work and the support of those that have been there, done that but not brought the shirt cos it wasn't a nassecity and you can't get cash back on quidco for it!
keep the faith and more importantly keep your chin up, TTFN

Congratulations! I know that remortgaging isn't for everyone, and can lead to more problems in the long run if you are not VERY careful, but if you are certain that you wont run the unsecured debts up again, and it reduces your outgoings and interest rate, then I think it can be a valid way of repaying your debts more quickly. You sound as though you are determined to get going with overpaying your mortgage too - good luck!!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
sure do, already have a plan to overpay by about £70 a month, not sure what effect moving to thailand will have, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it!
