Barclays account upgrade post BR

Hello,
Long story short, I was made BR in August 09, discharged in April 10. I had a Co-op cashminder account since the day after going BR but last summer I opened up a Barclays account (I used to have one before BR but they weren't a creditor).
I have a monthly savings account with them, pay in about 4k per month for my salary and I had 3 full ISAs with ING before they were transferred to Barclays over the last year. So I'm in a fairly good position with them now, I also have a Barclaycard Initial.
I got a letter from the bank in June saying that after a review of my account, it was being upgraded from a cash card account to a normal Barclays bank account. I saw this as a really good sign that things were starting to look better for me. The letter said that the account would be upgraded unless I wrote to them to request otherwise, by July 28th.
That date came and went, and my account was still showing on the internet banking site as a cashcard account. Strangely though I started seeing messages on there saying my pre-approved loan limit was 35,000 over 60 months - this is a first for me in a long time. I called the bank up in early August to ask if it was going to be changed as I wanted a contactless debit card and they said it would be but there was a backlog and it would take a few weeks.
Then last week I received a letter saying that despite me being told I would be upgraded, this was sent in error and my account would remain a cashcard account. I still see the pre-approved loan limits on the internet banking but when I click on it the site always says that they don't have access to my credit information so are unable to do an application online.
What is going on with Barclays?! Has anyone else ever had an upgrade account letter in error? Is it worth challenging them on it in person and seeing what the computer says ?
Thanks for your thoughts.

You could go in person and have only your time to loose, Barclays are known for saying one thing but doing another, enough threads on the credit card board to prove that.
Unfortunately until your BR is off your credit file along with any other defaults or CCJs then you will be limited with what your can expect.
Banks seem to use so many automated systems that what you perceive as an excellent account conduct the computer does not.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.

I got the same letter with the same date, and yep, it came and went but changed to the full current account around a week ago.
I don't use Barclays as my main account but have a SO set up for some money to go in the account each month to keep it active. I phoned to see about the contactless card and they reckon it'll come through in a few days, so who knows what's going on with Barclays.Feb 2024:
