Car insurance quote/renewal affect my mortgage application?

I am currently going through a mortgage application and my car insurance renewal quote has come through (Tesco, £98 - £20 more because I reported that someone crashed into me but there was no damage and I wasn't going to claim). The deadline to renew is the 18th September - crucial time in the mortgage application process.
Last time I searched for car insurance they left searches on my credit file - should I do this again (I need to do it again because I'm not going with Tesco) will it have a negative impact on my credit file/mortgage application and potential future mortgage applications?

I think insurance company searches are for identification purposes rather than credit and will have no impact on obtaining a mortgage. When I used a comparison site last month for my car insurance renewal, I end up with several recorded searches but have just applied successfully for a mortgage.0

I was in the exact same situation as you 2 weeks ago, I had to renew insurance as insurer increased premiums by 90%! Anyway I searched through comparison site and took out insurance much cheaper than I Am now, this did not affect mortgage apllication and received mortgage offer last week. I think insurers only do a soft credit check so doesn't signifactly affect your credit file.0
