Kitty's kicking debt diary

I'm not a new user, but wanted a new name and didn't seem to fall in to the category's that would allow me to do so, so have gone for a complete fresh start.
Mr Kitty and I have been playing at reducing the balances on our cards for sometime and would have been in a better position by now if ,in January, Mr Kitty hadn't proposed and we hadn't decided to get married this year! We didn't go overboard, but equally we didn't scrimp. We had a fantastic 6 months planning it and the best day. I would not change a thing, despite the increase in the CC balance.
We are off on honeymoon in a week and then after 2 weeks relaxing, ŵe'll be back to reality and making proper dents in the balances.
The debt is spread over 5 cards, all on 0% and we are fortunate in that the cards we have are always offering BTs so tart when each 0% runs out.
We put money into savings pots each month to cover the big annual expenses - Christmas, car insurance, car tax, kitty boosters etc. the grocery spends were ok, but I've got a little lazy recently due to time constraints, so that's a job to tackle.
We are also in the process of revamping our house - the bathroom has been gutted and is in the process of being refitted. When that is done, we will move on to the kitchen....and then the hallway and garden.......we are very fortunate to have received wedding presents that will help with these projects.
Having made a start here, the next job is to make a start on getting the house straight so I can trash it in order to start packing!

well that was a good start, couldn't remember password or diary name!!!
as always in life, I have learnt some valuable lessons....while planning the wedding I took my eye off the ball more than I had realised, although I lost some of the weight that had been hanging about (sensible eating but regular exercise), housework and money management were neglected. but I honestly didn't notice the housework.
now we don't have the wedding to plan, I am horrified by the state of the house but haven't found the time to deal with any of it, or to continue the exercise....so am already feeling decidedly Mr Blobbyish.
Funds took a battering, but that was probably partly due to my choice to not work overtime up to the wedding - despite the need for the cash, the time was more vital.
I am now back on overtime & looking forward to a better payday in 14 days but need to find a way of balancing housework, exercise, work, money management & general life stuff. hmmmmm
my pledge today is that by the end of this weekend, my living room will be a dust free zone which is pleasant to spend time in, the bathroom will be so clean that you could (if so inclined) eat in it & the hall & stair carpet will not have a layer cat fur on it (although I could call that extra insulation).
This is on top of a shopping list, meal plan & trip to supermarket, battling the ironing pile & working until 12 today.
Easy done. multitasking is what we women do best.....0 -
Enjoying reading your diary
have just started my own hoping that it helps

And yet again have been very lacking, although I did remember the password before having to reset it this time.
having started 2014 on a high, fate decided to balance it out a little. A few weeks after my last entry, was an hour & half into some overtime when OH called to say that he had been involved in car accident & I needed to leave work. Most importantly, other than bruises and being shaken up he was fine, as were the occupants of the other car. the same could not be said for either car. both were write offs. Cue stress in dealing with insurance companys, finding replacement car etc.
Anyway, that is now all sorted & we re-jigged finances a little because of it - couldn't find like for like replacement for the money offered by insurance, typical and weirdly enough things now seem more manageable.
So todays plan - overtime, but not sure how long for. then the hell that is T*sco on a Saturday - meal plan is done, shopping list still a work in progress as I am trying to decide what to have for my work lunches. Then major clean & sort out of kitchen & if I have time, the bathroom.
not exactly the most inspiring day, but needs must!0 -
Epic fail at the weekend. The trip to the supermarket was as much as I got to do and I don't really know why. Bad time management I guess.
Payday on Thursday and the week is going well for NSDs. I have wanted chocolate to help deal with work stress, but as I didn't have the right change have stayed away from the overpriced calorie machine.
I really need to get off my butt and do something, but have a bad case of cba. The only way to cure cba is to do something, anything..... So....kettle on, load dishwasher and feed the washing machine is the plan. Nothing too difficult, all necessary & productive....
Think that was dullest update ever!!!0
