Disaster hair colour

Hi,

I visited a new salon to have a cut and colour. With regards to the colour, I had about a 30 minute consultation with the hairdresser and asked for "natural", "to have my greys blended", that my hair was in really good condition and that I did not really want to have it bleached. There is a lot more to this story that I cannot go into over this thread.

The jist of it is that I ended up with having my hair bleached and it being a bright blonde colour (I am asian, so naturally have dark hair). I was shocked at the end and said I did not like it, but after nearly 4 hours, I paid for it all, and said I would come back to have it re-done. The next day I went to have it re-done, and I was so relieved that the hairdresser sort of had returned it back to my normal colour, so I was happy.

Unfortunately, this "happiness" did not last, and I can see that my hair is really damaged. It is dry and brittle, and looks awful. I had better hair before I had the colour put in. I am so upset by the whole thing.

I called the salon and asked to speak to the Manager and someone said they would call back but they haven't.

What should I do now? I feel a bit bad, that I walked out of the hair salon, "liking" my colour but in reality I was just relieved it was not the other colour anymore. My hair is ruined, I feel really upset, and at the same time angry too. My other question is should I demand my money back or compensation or nothing? After all they did sort of rectify the situation.

Thank you.

  • Ok. So if you did not want it bleached....how come you ended up with it bleached? Did you make it clear what you wanted?

I'm confused. Why would you bleach very dark (I assuming this) to blend grey.

I have mid brown hair & the greys I have are bright white. I buy a semi perm colour and that hides mine- I use a slightly lighter colour than my natural colour

OP keep calling, and if they still don't answer, go visit, if nothing else to get products to try to patch-together what you have got left, you can't repair hair damage because hair is dead, but you can add products to it to help it look and feel better, try to grow out the damaged parts, as long as you use suitable hair products it should be OK but make sure you stick to a decent damage-control product system. I would hope that the salon help you out with the product side of this and this is what I would be asking for if I were to go back. Take a friend with you for moral support if you need to but if you go alone the salon are far less likely to feel defensive and to offer you help IMO as they'd feel less cornered.
