Hanging out washing

Are the people at bbc.co.uk/weather watching my house and laughing because I no longer have a tumble drier? I went to hang out the washing, came back in and the weather symbol had changed to thundery showers ... according to the 24 hour forecast for my town I have until 1300hrs before the heavens open ...

Well it will still dry more in a hour or so outside than it would in much more than an hour hung inside on an airer ;)

I know exactly how you feel. My washer dryer died earlier this year and I replaced it with just a washer (it had been so much trouble). I thought that I won't even have to start looking for a tumble dryer until at least Sept/Oct. but I also find that every time I hang out the washing it will rain.

I think they're laughing at us - we have a lot of very damp graduands hanging around in frocks and sodden mortarboards today! I caught every raincloud with my laundry last week :( One lot I just gave up on and left it out for three days just to show the weather I wasn't going to run around after it... *harumph*

Glad I'm not the only one, although I think Calephetos wins with the sodden mortarboards. Had planned a trip to the Lido tomorrow but hey, guess what, it's forecast rain!!!

They seriously are laughing now ... they've changed the weather symbol AGAIN to heavy rain shower between 10am and 1300 hrs!!!!

Oh is that why our neighbours in the flat upstairs leave their washing on the line for over a week at a time - always wondered ;):p

  • I like it when it rains because the horrid kids down the road can't play out. though just hung my washing out and a black cloud has just turned up, just over my washing line, glad I didn't do that 2nd wash.

I think they guess weather over at the BBC - maybe consulting the odd bit of seaweed or onion skin along the way!!

I find a very much more reliable forcast can be found here:

    http://weather.co.uk

I have found the hour-to-hour forcast to be very reliable - literally to within 30mins or so!! I know I sound somewhat anal over this, but I have at least 4 wash loads a day and no tumble drier - I have to be anal over it! :D
