Can I apply to another company immediately

We have been provisionally accepted by First Direct for a 65% LTV mortgage. However the value of my house has not met our expectations and we now need a 70% LTV.

My question is can I try immediately with another company or will the FD offer count against me as I assume they did a credit check on me (which was 999).

Will another credit check go against me so soon.

Your Experian credit score may drop but don't really take much notice. One accepted check will not count against you that much that it would affect another lenders decision. The score on Experian is only an indication (and a poor one at that) of your credit worthiness. Each lender will have a unique criteria and where you could pass with one with flying colours, another could fail you. The criteria used by lenders takes into account affordability, outstanding debt, amount of existing credit being used etc.
