18.7.07 what small dfw thing will you do or have you done today?

13_3_4.gif Hello lovely DFWers - old timers and newbies.

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Today I will do the following:

- send everyone with pack ups
- try for a nsd - not been successful so far this week!
- do storecupboard dinner - spag bol probably
- do clicks and surveys
- not increase my debt in any way
- do online banking and update spreadsheet
- be positive
- get some old admin done and out of the way!

Hope everyone has a good day xx

Day off today, not much planned.

I am craving pizza today, so rather than spend £15.00 on a takeaway I am going to atempt to make my own! Hopefully it will be healthier too.
I also went to lidl today to buy veg as it's cheaper than Asda (usually I wouldn't bother and wouldn't care about the extra few pennies).
I have requested a settlement for my HFC 2 loan, and had a 'review' with them. They wanted to increase my loan to pay off my credit card, but would increase the interest & hike up the monthly repayment. I said NO!

Saved £192 a year getting rid of Sky Movies seeing as we never watch them anymore. Judging by the way the CS person at Sky sounded, it seems to be a regular event since they messed about with the movies. Might get a DVD postal rental service though but no rush yet.

Saved £120 a year by downgrading my broadband package. There's 4 options from light usage to heavy but apart from the lowest option, all others are unlimited downloads and users of the ISP have reported no difference at all between the other three options despite the highest costing one supposedly being faster at peak times.

I went to Sainsburys to buy my beloved Muller Light Lemon Cheesecake yoghurts (22p at the mo, half price) and they'd sold out...

Have brought a pack of 4 'Value low fat' yoghurts - 29p. Just had one and they're really nice. Money saving! oh yes.

    Other than that:

    * made packed lunch
    * chased ex-landlady for deposit (promising to do bank transfer today)
    * took dinner out of freezer for this evening
    * walked further to buy a nicer, cheaper birthday cake for someone at work - saving the company money and burning some calories. Hurrah!
  • Did my research and bought next quarters contact lenses online - £66 in shop - £54.9o from their online shop - went thought Quidco and will get £10 back and used JL card so some points towards a JL voucher.

    Moam
Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Hi everyone, hope you had a good day.

    Today I have:

    - overpaid my mortgage by £500 :j
    - done my expenses and got them authorised (£600+)
    - renewed my house and contents insurance for the same amount as my usual renewal through quidco and will hopefully get £120 back! That's going straight onto the mortgage too!:j
    - Made minestrone soup for me/OH to have for lunch tomorrow.
    - Moved all my tax money into a high interest account.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D
  • I bought my mobile lunch today in KFC using the voucher on the back of my parking ticket (Got a Twister Meal for £1, rather than the £4 that I would normally spend).
Man I felt !!!!!, but at the same time slightly pleased driving out...
