Exactly as Craigy says, usually same weight of sugar to fruit. Depending on the fruit you might need to use the juice of a lemon to help it set.
This year I have made, raspberry, blackberry and apple, strawberry, apricot, Mrs LWs delicious rhubarb breakfast jam, gooseberry and plum.
Many of these will be put into the hampers I am making. I save jam jars but I managed to buy some really cute ones from A**zon at a good price. If it is for a present I like to put a nice label on the jar as well.
I have already given a few jars away and they have been well received.
Good luck

That's how I make it too. Lots of jam making tips here (half way down): http://notjustgreenfingers.wordpress.com/2013/09/06/preserving-and-storing-crops-part-3/0 -
foolproof recipie for rhubarb and orange jam (its lush)
What you need (makes 1.5 litres)
• 1kg oranges
• 1kg trimmed rhubarb, roughly chopped
• 1.3kg granulated sugar
What you do
1. Peel the oranges and slice the rind thinly. Squeeze the oranges until you have 375ml juice.
2. Combine the rind, juice, rhubarb and sugar in a saucepan and stir over a high heat, without boiling, until the sugar dissolves. Bring to the boil then continue to boil, uncovered, for about 45 minutes or until the marmalade gels when tested.
3. Pour the hot marmalade into hot sterilised jars and seal immediately. Label and date the jars once cooled.

If I'm making marmalade I buy the tins from Lakeland - they have lemon marmalade, med cut orange and thick cut orange - add sugar and water, what I do is swap some water for alcohol
Orange - instead of 3/4pt water - use 1/4pt brandy or whisky 1/2pt water
Lemon - Use Vodka or Gin and Tonic (use one of the pre-mixed tins) again to 1/4pt alcohol to 1/2pt water,
Lakeland do a strawberry jam - but its like a smooth puree (tend to avoid as I like to see a strawberry if its strawberry jam) xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Just search on "hedgerow jam" uses what is freely foraged, and is not picky on the ingredientsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
