wool blankets

Hi sorry to bother you all,

I was just wondering if anyone knew of a cheap or reasonably priced store where i could get wool blankets from?

They cost a fortune on the wool company so way out of my budget.

Oh and is this any good to buy off ebay?

The National Trust do recycled wool blankets made in Clwyd - about 40-odd miles from me - and they're £14 each but are you looking for something specific?

  • I am a big fan of wool blankets and usually find lovely ones in charity shops for very little :)
If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, its just possible you haven't grasped the situation ;)

    Thanks :)

Oh i'll ask at a national trust property near me :)

Its just for over beds and sofas in the winter, so doesn't have to be anything special.

    Hello Kezlou

I cannot help with wool blankets
But! on my sofa' s and beds goes an asortment of covers.
On the sofa I am looking at in the front room I have a fleece throw but is not quite long enought to cover both arms so I have a blue bath mat over one arm. THe back of the same sofa has an old bathtowel accross that Queen Bee dog is lying across right now. Prime spot for looking out of the window.
Some times I swap and put my crochet blanket on the sofa.. It has 12 inch blue squares indiffrent shades.
This sofa turns into a bed so we have a quilt for it.
I also have a old cot quilt I sometimes put over my knee's.
The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)

    your home sounds wonderful :)

Were like that, have a very thick huge throwover which my friend gave to us literally covers the whole sofa. Right now my little old dear puddy cat is snuggled into it.

Have a two fleece blankets from the pr!mark, so think i might just buy some more of them. think they were £2 each about a 1.5 m2

I am spoilt as I have loads of vintage welsh wool blankets, quilts and wool blankets etc.

Over the last few years I have used them more and more.. an I love them.. and would def recommend wool blankets, whether they are new ones or vintage utility, army, whitney ones etc...

if you are buying vintage ones, don't worry if they have the odd hole, darn then... it all ads to the character of them..

  • Is it just me but I find wool itchy. But I'm sure I've read on here that fleece is no use To warm you up from cold or have I dreamed it x
  • Hi,
A month back I bought new ex-army wool blankets from fleabay, they were under 20pound each, the swedish army one was cream and like a cellular blanket, the British one was dark brown and exactly what you would expect an army blanket to look like:D, but I was extremely happy with both.

  • I second the national trust ones, we bought one this summer and it's lovely, they sell them online too I think but you can't choose your colour
