Just got my two Memeboxes (K Style 4 and My Cute Wishlist 4 ) and loving both!!
A lot of people weren't impressed by either box as K-Style was mostly stuff from the CutiepieMarzia box and the MCWL4 didn't really have anything that would be considered cute but glad you liked both boxes. I've for the wishlist one coming but that's the last time I'll get that (if they bring out number 5) as the last 2 haven't been great tbh.
My Lovely Boutique memebox looks good though! That is nearer to what the cute wishlist should have been!!
Tinkerbell memebox quite sweet - daughter loves the sparkly lipgloss!
actually like My Cosy Box but looking forward to next month as the Christmas boxes seem to be good from the French versions in past years.
Daughters nerd block on its way so should be here next week - delayed as the warehouse was snowed in seemingly!0 -
I am afraid that the December boxes will be full of make up for the christmas parties!
My lovely boutique was cute. I didn't order it but cutter than the my cute wishlist!0 -
Morning all
OK so I am in trouble with my 13 year old daughter who just HAS to have a makeup / beauty advent calendar this year as chocolate is sooooooooo childish! Anyway I was going to get her the Body Shop one but sadly it has sold out as has the Boots one and the Benefit one and all the other ridiculous reasonably priced ones that were available, so after a little googling I stumbled across You Beauty Discovery and the advent calendar they are offering for just under £50, on the face of it it looks like great quality and not a bad price considering there is £240 of products in it, trouble is, being a man I have never heard of these people and after some searching found this thread, who better to ask that you lot!
So are they kosher so to speak? It is going to cost £4.95 for delivery but they say it will be 5-7 working days which pushes us right to the December 1st limit are they usually quicker and is delivery reliable? How do they send their items? Is it worth me opting for the £6.95 a month membership for the 2 free samples every month? Are the samples any good?
And the most MSE question of all, anyone know of any discount codes etc I could use on this order?
Thanks in advance"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -
Yes go for this one! I got one last year (then several when they went down to half price in January) and they're excellent value for money. Considering it works out at £2 per day and some of the things are worth nearer £10 it's such good value. I loved opening every day. They are a real company so you're not going to be scammed! If you order now it should be here by the 1st Dec.
I actually consider this to be the best one (certainly price wise) on the market. Benefit sold out in about 30 minutes online.0 -
Oh and yes go for a one off £6.95 a month to save the postage, that can be something to put in her Christmas stocking!0

Wow, you are underpressure!
You can trust the you beauty discovery, I don't think anyone had a problem with them. I can't answer your questions regarding delivery. I receive my monthly boxes 3-4 days after I order them. However, I wouldn't choose this calendar for a 13 year old girl. The products are all great, but there is one anti wrinkle cream, 2 self tan/bronze products and most of the brands are a bit expensive. Do you want her to start with high end products? There are no codes for this one but towards the end of the year they may reduce the price (it happened the last two years)
The monthly box is good as you can choose 2 products out of a selection. You get a couple of extra samples that the quality/price changes from month to month.
Did you see the ciate advent calendar? It has nail polishes only and someone said that tk maxx sells them discounted.
The other thing you could do is to make your own advent calendar. It requires more time but it may come out cheaper than £55 and you can choose products more appropriate for her age, although maybe not as high value as £240 for £50.
e.g. body shop used to have 3 travel size products for £5 (hand sanitizer, lip balm, body butter, body scrub - different scents as well),
superdrug has some cheap cosmetics e.g. mua nail polish £1 (they last for two days, anyway she can't wear nail polish at school!),
poundland has for £1 rimmel eye shadows, metallic nail polishes, nail art products etc.
Note: I don't have any children.0 -
I have the YBD advent calendar (well, my OH has hidden it!) They're a good company, I've had Beauty boxes from them since they started (sept 2013 I think).
I agree with the previous poster, I don't know how great the products would be for a 13 year old, for me they're great... but Im 41!
The Ciate nail polish calendar is good, produced every year and may be more ideal for her age. You may be able to get it cheaper (so shop around!) but so you know what it is, they sell it on very.co.uk (Ciate Mini Mani Manor - Nail Varnish Advent Calendar)0 -

I agree with sn1987a that it might not be entirely what a 13 year old wants, but then again you know your daughter and perhaps she's already hooked on high end stuff :P
With regards to the company though, they are totally legit. I also would recommend paying the £6.95 once and then cancel it afterwards if you do get this advent calendar!

Right, for filling it (can you tell I love a project?!) you can go to places like Poundland (I just got a bunch of Sally Hansen gorgeous colors from there) and look for nail varnishes, cheap Rimmel or Revlon makeup - they often have bits hanging in little baggies. Be brave! TK Maxx also has lots of little sets at reasonable prices that you could get and split up.

Ahhh thanks so much for all the fantastic replies, I knew the fountain of knowledge known as the fantastic people on this forum would not let me down! I will order from them it seems like a great deal and she loves all the high end stuff, a bit too much!
Thanks for all the suggestions and also Pleut for a fantastic post with loads of great ideas, I would normally put something together ourselves but we have a busy week this week and time is not on my side with this, you have solved another problem for me however with another calendar I need for the diva's younger sister so thanks
