Anyone have any experience with adult braces?

Options
I had braces when I was a teenager yet as I have gotten older my teeth have shifted back to their original position. I am not considering getting braces as ann adult to fix some of these problems.

I have an appointment with my dentist in a couple of weeks time where I will ask about my options and hopefully will get referred to an orthodontist. I'm guessing that I will need to go private for this (although you never know!) and am leaning to clear braces so as not to be so obvious.

Has anyone here been through this? Could you tell me your experiences?
No more goo hoarding!

  • Oh brilliant! I'm guessing you had to go private for that? Do you mind me asking how much it cost you and how long you'll have to wear them?

  • I'm an adult in braces! Also in a similar situation of having had them (twice) as a teenager but everything moved back. I have the metal ones, been in them for nearly three years now. I'm afraid I can't help with information about the cost though, as mine are on the NHS as they're moving my teeth in preparation for jaw surgery later this year.

I must admit I was worried about them making me look much younger, and that other people would think it was weird, especially when meeting with new clients at work - but to be completely honest I've found that most people don't notice them... even though I'm currently sporting bright purple bands :D I've actually also been ID'd less since having them on as well haha!

    Good luck :)

Yeah i had to go private, the upper arch cost 1K then i have had to get a splint made for my bottom teeth and that was £65, at this stage i think its worth it, i've been told i have to wear it for 6 to 8 months
