The half day was a rota'd split shift - again some pants thing they needed me to do as the couldn't cope due to shortages on certain days of the week. I had what I have been informed was a Migraine - never had them before so did not know why my head was cracking in two and my eyesight all to pot. Can't you take a paracetmol was one persons helpful gesture.

The handbook is part of a 15 page contract - written by a law lord or something as its so confusing. So I will plough through it.

I have spoken to my manager since and made my feeling quite clear about this. I emphasised the "fair play" policy in treating staff which they may have overlooked and indicated the procedure was unfair when held against my excellent sickness records. She is well aware of my kidney problems - she took me straight home on one occassion. She knows how agonising it can be. She agreed even that the procedure was unfair but it was out of her hands. She is now going to make sure that I am not used to plug holes in other departments, shift my leave as and when it suits her department and generaly cut me some slack as far as over time is concerned. I said I was no longer willing to cover it. So all in all I have got somewhere.
