At the moment I don't have a job, which means we just can't justify spending on takeaways! The solution? Make it from scratch at home.
Originally I only planned to get a big bag of split red lentils but after doing more research I decided to get some choice spices - the ones, according to online guides, used most often in Indian cooking, I already have a few Chinese bits.
Here is what I got, the quantity and what I paid :-
Cumin seeds (whole) - 100g - 59p
Dhania seeds (whole coriander seeds) - 100g - 59p
Turmeric powder - 100g - 59p
Paprika - 100g - 59p
Red chilli powder - 100g - 59p
Garam Masala - 100g - 79p
Black mustard seeds - 100g - 59p
Gram flour - 1kg - £1.19
Split red lentils - 1kg - £1.69
1 loose onion - 16p
1 garlic bulb - 23p
Very pleased with what I got for less than £8.
An investment for the delicious, home cooked food ahead!
Now for the recipes!

I would include fenugreek seeds before coriander or black mustard.0

When I buy a multi pack, most of them go to waste as its just me, hubby and LO
Can honestly say that any onions I have ever bought have not gone to waste. Bought some in the last round of "free" F&V from Morrisons , so that was over a fortnight ago , and still perfect.0 -
Maybe I'm not storing them properlyI can resist anything but temptation.0
