Most condiments contain sugar and/or vinegar and both are preservatives!

I found some salad dressing in the back of my cupboard dated Oct 2012 and its perfectly fine!

Ignore bb dates. If its smells and tastes normal - use it.

Also the cost of a half sized bottle maybe more than the full size. My FIL tickles me with that one. He wants some baked beans and moans that he wastes half the tin when i buy a standard size one.
I tell him the 1/2 size tin is actually 1 or 2p MORE than the full sized one.

    But to him its waste.

Tell him it's not waste - you'll be eating the leftover half a tin after he's gone when he's not looking :-)

I had salad dressing in my fridge that was supposed to be used within six weeks of opening and I finished it 10 months later - and it tasted fine.

Incase it helps anyone else- I've discovered that Morrisons now sell single sachets of Heinz condiments. Very handy!

Better still, put the other half in a tupperware type tub and freeze it.

I only ever eat half a tin at a time and freeze the other half.

I don't use ketchup or brown sauce as I don't like them but I have sachets in the cupboard that have been from restaraunts/cafes that were put with my meal and as I don't use them I bring them home These go into a small lock'n'lock box for my grandsons who like sauces with a bacon butty etc .I do the same with sugar sachets as I also don't use sugar and my sugar tin that sits on the side with the coffee and tea bag tin is full.It also had 'splenda /sweet'n'low sachets as well for the visitors who are dieting . The only sugar in my house in quantity is caster sugar for baking or demerrara
