Job application form asks about sick leave - how to deal with this?

The relevant provision is section 60 of the Equality Act.

I'd suggest being completely honest, but also telling them what the situation was. There's a human reading the form, and no-one is going to want to punish you for having survived such a serious illness. If you omit the fact, and it comes out later, then many companies would feel that they had no choice but to let you go, as your honesty could no longer be trusted.0

Thanks ennui - so, as long as the employer can show that they need to know about absence for one of the reasons set out in section 60, they can ask.0

That is the case.
Our application forms ask how many days in the last 6/18 months (separately), and then has a box to explain why.
If disability related, we will put the application forward, however if there seems to be a recurring issue, it's looked into further before a decision is made.
In your case, the application would be put forward within the company.💙💛 💔0
