What's wrong with my Honeysuckle?

and what should I be doing about it please?





It's got lots of this yellow crusty growth on it and there's also some on the Cotoneaster. Is it simply old age - the plants have been in there about 18 years - or is it something I can treat? I'd really appreciate any help to rectify this as it's really not done well at all this year

Its just lichen. Nothing to worry about. It grows on all old plants and shrubs and walls an rocks etc etc. It won,t harm it.

Thank you olias, I'm glad I don't need to worry about it. I've just discovered the reason it's not flowered so well this year is because my son cut it back in June when he also trimmed the Berberis hedge
That would explain the lack of flowers then :rotfl:

I love to see lichens on stems and branches - makes them more interesting.

And, I think to have them means that you live in an area with cleaner air - they only grow well in places with less air pollution?
