bank accounts + s/orders

i am trying to open a new bank account, but most are saying that they will do a credit check and this will affect my rating if it comes back not good(there has been some missed payments but trying to come to some arrangement), and can only use their cash machines and limited use.

I need to start up a new account so i can try and sort out my creditors and to stop my first bank stopping taking money and making more charges.

Also i need to use this new account to set up standing orders( to pay token amount)

What banks are good to use?
need to do better

How about starting by looking at Matins article undr cards and loans. it explains how to get all three credit checks for free. Then you will have a clear idea how bad or otherwise you situation is?

Most can be done on line.

Nationwide will give you a basic account without a credit check but you have to apply in the branch and ask specifically for it other wise they will try for the next step up.

I've got horrendous credit rating but have just managed to open account with A&L (£50 cash back through Quidco) and Natwest's Step Account.

Evening, I opened a Basic account with Abbey that has the facility to set up standing orders via the online banking. It sounds like you are looking to set up a current account what would require a credit search. Just open a basic account with any lender and you shouldnt have a problem ;)
