Lost Endowment Document

In 1984 I took out an endowment policy with Co-Op Insurance. From July 1984 to November 1991 I was making substantial monthly payments. In Nov 1991 when I bought my first house for some reason, that I now cannot remember, I did not use the endowment. At this point I changed it to a low cost endowment and reduced its value to the lowest amount. Because it was so low the payment was annual and a direct debit was set up. After a few years I realised that CIS was no longer taking the payment. In the meantime I had suffered a disaster, lost the policy document, and its reference number and bank account statements that proved that I had been previously paying into the policy. I contacted CIS who disclaimed any knowledge of the policy, any payments that I had made and were unhelpful and obstructive. This is a long shot, but does anyone know how I might recover the policy and some money from this policy?

If CIS have no record of the policy then the onus is on you to provide what evidence you can. If neither of you have any records then its game over.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If the plan was made paid-up when the premium payments ceased, the value would have been used up in providing the protection benefits, depending on the plan's non-forfeiture clause.
After the value was dissipated, the plan would lapse no value.I am a mortgage broker. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
