Santander/NP morgage help

I have a relatively small mortgage with Santander although it was originally taken out with National and Provincial.
Its for £14,500 repayment and it is coming to the end of its term, there are a small amount of arrears due to some health issues over the last couple of years.
The yearly statement had a closing balance of 4k which Santander are now saying is incorrect as they don't include the arrears in the closing balance
The monthly payment was £330 including home insurance but has jumped 71% to £566 which doesn't include any arrears payment.
I've tried to get an explanation of them as I'm now paying the equivalent of a 70k mortgage and still have the same arrears.
Any wise men/women out there who could shed some light on this as Santander are being no help at all and keep quoting its an old account B/S

Update - I was correct, Received an apology and £100 comp, complained again and had the last 1K wiped off the mortgage and had the account closed.
