Church after divorce, what questions will be asked?

Options
I was just wondering if anyone has married in church following a divorce what kind of questions the vicar might ask? I've been told a decision would be up to the individual but I just wondered. Thanks

Yes the decision is up to the individual vicar and is usually based on his knowledge of you as a couple...ie do you attend the church or have strong connections there....

Have you thought abouut a blessing after the official bit....some vicars are more open to that than a full marriage ceremony.

Although you are quite correct its very much the decision of the individual vicar concerned.

I've been married twice in a church. The second time we met the vicar beforehand (as you do) to arrange the date and I can't recall any awkward questions at all.

You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time
  • My fiance has been divorced and we're having a church wedding (we're Anglicans, in case that is relevant). We were worried it would be an issue but it's been totally fine. Things I would expect to come up would be things like why the previous marriage failed, current church practices, and whether you have discussed it in detail as a couple (to avoid future problems).

It does depend on the minister - I would raise it yourselves and give them the opportunity to air any concerns.
