If i decided to get rid of sky would they take the box (Basic box) and mini dish away?
I am thinking of just going for freeview, hows best to get it?
Thanks

If i`m right i`m sure that out of contract you keep your sky box and you can then use it as freeview.I think you have to get a free to air card from sky though.A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

I have to confess I was thinking about this - I have multiroom and want to change the multi room box to the freeview and downstairs where we have sky+ change this just to their mix 6 package or whatever it is as we never watch the movies they are showing these days and it's a waste of £15 for the moveis and £10 for the box. The only thing you ever get are higher monthly prices! We are out of contract as well.0

I'm not sure if i'm out of contract, i have only had sky for 8 months.
Does anyone know how long the contract is?
Thanks

If you cancel Sky you can get downgraded to Free-Sat.
You will still have your sky box, still have your mini-dish but only be able to receive free to air channels and radio. This is better than freeview, because you still get access to the superior interactive services Sky has to offer.
If you want to see what you'll be able to access with Free-Sat, just take your Sky viewing card out and browse.0 -
Your Sky contract is for 12 months, you can cancel but you will still have to pay up to the end of the year. You could downgrade to the minimum package, i.e 2 mixes for £15 a month.
As others have said, if you cancel at the end of your contract period the box and dish are yours to keep. You can then get Freesat from Sky, you may have to pay £20 as a one off for the card.
Note With Freesat you won't get E4 or More 4.
If you want to try freeview just pick up a box from a Supermarket, best to check if its available in your area first, and you might need an aerial upgrade. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Not strictly correct, by pulling out the card, Channel 4, Channel 5 ( x3 ) and Sky 3 will not work, but they will on Freesat.
I would also suggest that Freeview may not have as many channels as Freesat, but IMO they are far better quality channels.0
