looks like many are having issues with the company that sells this... going by all the ketone posts..
l just found out my mother just ordered "a free trial at £2.45" so far relatively little damage has been done "so far", some might have seen my previous post regarding a dodgy ATM which means over the past few days we have been keeping an eye on the online statements which is why it came to our attention.
lm just wondering if cancelling/reporting the card lost will stop any further charges on the card or just admitting to the bank that she accidentally signed up to a scam will stop any further payments to this so called trail? just wished she had come to me before ordering things over the internet.
we dont care about the £2 just that no further payments leave the account as going by what lve read others have been charged more despite the fact l believe my mother only wanted the "trial" pills.

I don't know how these things work, but I recently had a refund from Amazon. They refunded to an old credit card which had been cancelled a while back and I called up Amazon to say the card was now too old and had also been cancelled- it even showed as void on the account due to being expired.
Amazon said the money would still go back to the account even though they had the old card details and it did go back no problems, no time delay nothing.
I wouldn't rely on cancelling your card to prevent a scam taking money from it- I'd say it was more than likely they had worked on this eventuality.
Call your bank and let them know if your suspicious of a scam, call the Police. I don't know how is the best way to get out of scams like this, if it were me I'd be totally worried and would probably close my account and open a new one elsewhere! But hopefully my knee-jerk reaction is going too far and you'll find an easier option.0 -
ld actually found a useful page here, ld assume it would have been taken as a continuous payment essentially meaning each payment would have been considered a single payment (if that makes sense) but from what l read up till earlier this year they were hard to get the bank to refuse to pay them.
in any case, called the bank yesterday.. the moment we noted who it was to her she knew of the scam and l could imagine her rolling here eyes at how many ppl she dealt with who had similar issues.
tho she did warn us that sometimes these scammers finding they cant take money will just use a different company name to continue taking payments. in either case if items come we will be sending them back unopened recorded delivery and have warned any further attempts to take money will be considered fraud.
tho it wouldnt surprise me if they dont see the email.. especially seeing as the last 5 attempts to phone them were met with the answer phone, tho l had half a mind to say within the email that we didnt want to be part of their scam.
lm just glad l caught the charge on the online statement and googled it because l didnt recognize it otherwise my mother could have been allot more out of pocket!0 -

I don't think it was not seeing your email, its that they aren't going to do anything you have asked because that isn't how their business works-if it is a scam.
Glad you called the bank but keep an eye on all outgoings as like the bank has said, they can still leech money from your account even if the bank said they have stopped the transactions.
To be honest I'd expect better of the bank- this is a business which needs to keep you happy if it wants to continue to have you as a customer. If you feel belittled or feel they have not taken enough action into preventing this company/scam from taking any further money, then there are many many other banks you can move to. They should be working with you and doing everything in their power to resolve a problem you have limited control in stopping, it can't be that hard to deal with something like this- I can't help but feeling that all the lasse-faire reactions that so many banks seem to have regarding scams just speaks volumes about who their priorities really are- banks seem to care more about their business clients and far less about individual accounts. Has greed stamped all over it! (Rant over!!)0 -
well they agreed to stop any further payments but since scammers like money it wouldnt surprise me if they tried to take it under another name.
however thankfully due to my diligence l caught the charge and queried it via google which lead me to the scam which meant so far the damage had been less that a couple of pounds which my mother has written down to her own stupidity.. lve told her from now on if she EVER wants to do any online shopping somewhere other than amazon/ebay to let me check up on the companies she plans to use to make sure they arent scams..
kinda messed up tho that the First time she shops online she signs up to a ruddy scam!! lol.0 -
just an update, have sent the item back but they have refused to sign for it.. so its coming back..
we have blocked them trying to take more but lm told they may just try using a different associated companies name.0 -

That's why I suggested closing the account and starting a new one, unconnected to them first (different bank?) If you do this, avoid a "switching" service or you'll just end up switching the scammer with the new account!
Not saying it's the right way to do this, it's just what I would do if it happened to me.0 -
about 20+ days since the company was emailed and they reply back.
they are happy to cancel the subscription (allegedly) but they pretty much stated either you send it back (which we did) or pay £30 and keep it.
now the thing thats most messed up is that we returned the product to the return to address on the outside of the package which weirdly seems to be different from the one they want us to send back to which is impossible unless the lazy ppl dont pick it up from the post office. imho we shouldnt owe them anything because we have proved its been sent back (l have the receipt to prove it and the tracking number tracks to where its waiting at this second).
l was given a RMA number, but lm still pretty peeved considering they waited over 14 days to get back to us, if they had pulled their fingers out sooner (tho l guess the scam isnt setup like that) ld have sent the RMA number with it.0
