endowment help

Options
hello,
hope somebody can help, as i am trying to help a friend, it is driving me insane...
he had an endowment but stopped paying as it was getting unaffordable, but he shredded all the paperwork, but the endowment was in his wife's name as she is now deceased, he thought the policy was with nationwide so i wrote to them, they wrote back and stated..
i have reviewed the paperwork and the evidence indicate that nationwide did not sell you your policy. this has also been confirmed by friends life (axa), they have told me that D R Taylor insurances sold the policy..
well il be damed can't seem to find any record of d r taylor insurances, now does this mean it was through friends life (axa), getting really confused, any help please

The selling agent doesnt matter unless you are complaining.

Did he stop paying for the endowment before or after his wife died?

If it was after (i.e. the policy was still in force when she died), then he doesn't need to know anything about the selling agents - he can claim the death benefit from the policy provider. (Or at least, her executor can - the death benefits wouldn't necessarily go to him, depending on her will).

If it was before, then as dunstonh says the selling agent only matters if he's complaining. If he is complaining about the sale, he would need to complain to the selling agent. Axa could probably give you the last address they hold - but I think a successful complaint in these circumstances is very unlikely. When was the policy sold, and what would be his basis for complaint?
