Halifax online DIP/AIP question

Options
Hi all

We completed the halifax mortgage promise form first thing this morning via Halifax website, I was expected some kind of immediate yes/no but on submitting the page it just bought back a page with a reference number and 3 stages regarding submitting full application etc.

I have not received an email from them (like it stated)

Is this normal and how long till I actually know the outcome of the mortgage promise/dip

  • I can only speak as a broker using the intermediary system, but 100% (there is, I believe, a 'refer' outcome however I have never had one, and I submit probably 80 mortgages a year to Halifax) of DIP's through there will get a result virtually instantly...

    Maybe give them a call?

Thanks for the info, i did try and ring them but gave up after being on hold for over 60mins,

I would have thought we would have been good candidates for a ok DIP as we both work FT have a combined income of £65,000 have a £25,000 deposit, only other commitments are a £340 loan payment, which is currently being overpaid by a further 400 each month

Based on budgeting £650 for mortgage payment and after all other bills and commitments we still have £2038 left

No negative influences on credit file, apart from 3 search that tesco mobile did by mistake (should have been one) in may this year which i am trying to get removed.

Looking at a £150,000 property with £25k deposit

We applied to Halifax for a decision in principle 2 weeks ago today, we never received an email either.

We've been trying to chase them up, they told us last week it could take up to 2 weeks to hear from them, the last two days we have been on hold over half an hour on the phone each time, no-one answering, eventually today, after waiting almost 45 minutes we got through only to be told that they haven't even looked at our application yet, it's been overlooked or something, so we told them to remove it, we are so annoyed

We've now arranged to go and see a broker in the hope that they may be able to help us get things moving, we've already had our offer accepted on the property we want, so I hope this wasted time doesn't result in us losing out on it now!

If I were you I would stay hanging around on the phone until someone picks up, you don't want to be waiting weeks just for them to turn around and say they've done nothing!

Thanks the info, am glad it was not just me, and yes your advise regarding a broker is what we are going to do, found a house we like at a great price and don't want to let it slip through, banks need to get a grip and not mess people around so much
  • We also applied online for a mortgage promise, only at the weekend and got this response last night

'Thank you for your recent Online Mortgage Enquiry.

Unfortunately, due to unexpected business levels we will not be able to process your enquiry and contact you as you have requested and the reference number given on your recent enquiry will no longer be valid.

    Please accept our sincere apologies.

However, you can call us on 08457 273747 option 5, option 2 and a colleague will be happy to talk to you.

The lines are open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and Saturday 9am to 4pm.

    Kind Regards

    Halifax Online Team'

Halifax aren't coping well after MMR introduction. Queue times are horrendous to get through. Processing teams are in shambles. Staff poorly trained. Shocking service.

Yeah they seem to be stuggeling, rang them twice today between meetings, on both occasions the recorded message stated approx 20min wait time, first time had to give up after 58 mins and second time got to 72 mins and had to cut off as had meeting to go to. Cost a fortune ringing from mobile and could no find a geographic number on saynoto0870
