Mortgage renewal and debt consolidation

Hi, our mortgage rate comes to an end in November this year and since we took it out we have accrued 2 loans which expire in 4 and 5 years respectively. Has anyone ever loaded their mortgage with loan debt to ease the strain? My initial feeling is that whilst this may seem like a good idea in the short term, freeing up disposable income is going to cost us in the long term. Advice welcome.
