Is $ky the 'best' option?

Hi all,

If this is in the wrong forum please move. I thought it could have gone in 'Internet Access', 'Cut the Cost of Digital TV', etc etc...

Anyway, I used to be a Telewest/NTL/Virgin Media customer (was for about 5 years) and I have mostly been very happy with the service they provided: BB, TV, Landline which I was paying £23 a month for. I'm now moving to a new home and I can't get cable (stops about 10 houses down) so I have to look at other options.

Before I closed my Virgin account, I monitored what I used per month re: bandwidth and I think it's about 7/8Gb (sometimes a little more).

From what I can see and reading reviews, $ky is my best option. The BT phone rental is £10.50 and then Sky's 2-variety mix at £15 and Max BB at £10 comes out the cheapest: total £35.50. I've heard that $ky is going up in September but I'm not sure how that will affect monthly payments. I do watch channels on Sky (sometimes Sports) you can't get on freeview so that rules that out of the equation. I can't get Tiscali TV in the area either.

If it's any use I've been onto Samknows.co.uk and it says the 'BEDMINSTER' exchange is LLU'd for some services (still not quite sure what this means).

To sum up, I don't think I can see the wood for the trees - are there any other options that I could look at that could save me money?

Thanks!!

  • Was gonnna suggest http://www.homechoice.co.uk/ but that looks like it is now the Tiscali thing - bah i cant keep up!

tbh if you want the channels on Sky then, erm, your gonna have to get Sky! How about sky's free sat - does that give you the channels you want? Thats the one off fee digital sky tv thing.

£35 all in doesnt sound too bad. If you want to save money, Id ditch the TV and go for freeview. But if thats not an option...

Freesat is rubbish! It doesnt even have E4 on it. We currently have 4 mixes in living room and freesat upstairs but thinking of just changing it to freeview as you get better channels. We have BB with a dif company and were paying £17 a month for it. We could get it cheaper elsewhere but were thinking about moving soon so dont want to be tied into a 12 month contract.
