Braces offer on Groupon - £899 - legit?

Hi all,

I've bought a Groupon voucher for Braces for £899.

I've been wanting braces for a while, so this offer seems very reasonable. With most brace treatments coming in at over £2,000 it seemed too good to miss.

One of my friends seems skeptical about the offer, saying it's too good to be true. I'm wondering if anybody has had experience of buying a treatment like this on Groupon as there are now doubts in my mind.

The offer seemed legit to me because:

a) It's a single arch six month smiles treatment. Having done a bit of research on this, many six month smile treatments are within the £1,500 range, so the discount is actually quite reasonable with that in mind. With this also just being one arch this would also reduce the costs.

b) They were very open about the name of the clinic, and I checked the website and it seems completely legit

c) The terms and conditions state that if I am ineligible for the treatment I will get a full refund, and that the treatment covers the cost of all visits and the consultation. It also seems to include the cost of the retainer after the treatment. (Basically, there doesn't seem to be any hidden costs).

d) I paid by credit card, and I've documented the terms, offer and my appointment, so if anything does go wrong I should have some ground to stand on for a refund.

With all the above in mind, do you think this is a good offer or have I made a mistake?
Thanks.

Are you sure a six month treatment will be enough to correct the issue ?
My daughter had her teeth straightened and it took 18 months.

I've used groupon a lot in the past and my SO is currently using a course of chiropractor treatments we bought from there for £29 instead of the couple of hundred it would have cost usually.

I would have said it was legit. It's actually a deal I've considered in the past, so make sure you let us know how it goes. In a couple of years I might have the ££ to be able to do it myself!
New to this money saving lark. Any tips greatly received.

  • Hiya!

I got my braces on last week - i went for 6 month smiles.

899 seems very reasonable as ive paid 1850 in total.

Totally worth it for me :) fingers crossed its off quicker than 6 months!

If its something you want to do then just go ahead and do it (if you can afford it). just make sure the dentist is a good one.

Im so chuffed ive took the plunger - will have nice teeth for my wedding now!

  • Sorry to hijack the post but I have just been for a consultation for the six month smile and the cost is £3000!!! which is far more than you guys have paid. I didn't think there was such a variation in price.

if so were you happy with it???

Anyone else tried any of these groupon dental offers?
Ibought several groupon with mixed results depending on the products but can't find reviews specifically about their dental deals.

I had a treatment called six month smiles but it actually took just over a year. How quickly your teeth move depends on your age.
One thing that my research found is that orthondists will suggests you have braces on upper and lower teeth because of the way your bite fits together. Depending on how wonky your teeth are, just moving one set might cause problems. I would recommend anyone getting braces get at least two consultations first.
But that said, if you have wonky teeth it's great once they're straight so do get them fixed.
FYI, I paid about £2500 in london but there was 5% off if you paid it all upfront so I put it on an interest free credit card.
