Hi this is a while off yet but just thought gives us chance to rectify any problems, with advise from here .. So here goes
Bought our house I'm just my name in April this year used halifax, it's on 2 year fixed rate .
Plan is to re mortgage in joint names when fixed rate comes to end.
Reason house in in my name only due to partners shady past credit history .. He has two unsettled debts one from credit card and one bank account due to fees after fees added.. Now these are before we met 2006 still remain on his file I think until November this year..
Now question is do we offer full and final settlement on these debts ( which we did offer few years back and refused him) the debts are around 3k .. Do we need credit builder card ?
Or is this a waste of time and just remortgage again in my sole name ..
Reason we want to do it in joint names is eventually we will want bigger house and so will need his income added ..
Many thanks in advance Sarah

If the plan is to move at some point, I would wait till then.
With regards his debts, they will remain on his account for 6 years after they are settled, so best to clear ASAP so when you remortgage they will be cleared (although still showing so will have some impact depending on LTV etc)I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
