  • Just a quick question. Have you remembered to cancel the direct debit to your Barclaycard?

  • I've been thinking about mortgages today... don't ask me why or what made me want to though! lol I downloaded Martin's mortgage PDF guide and read through it.. it kind of all makes sense if one too many bits of jargon....Tracker.. offset... variable... it's like that nationwide advert with the banker and his 'fixed rate tracker, offset variable tracker, absolutely crackers tracker...' lol.
The funny thing is I'm actually really looking forward to being able to get a house of OWN our instead of renting from the housing assocation. We're in such a better position now than when we moved in and it can only get better over the next few years... I've been doing some maths and once the girls go to school full time I can get a full time job and as long as we've saved up a decent deposit we shouldn't have a problem being able to afford one. House prices round here aren't too bad at all.. will have a look at some average prices though in a bit once I've finished rambling. Plus if the market carries on as it is we should be able to get something decent in a few years as house prices are really slowing down at the moment so fingers crossed.

Obivously by then we'll have all our debt paid off too... which will be even better... give it a 1 1/2 - 2 yrs we'll be totally debt free and be able to start saving for a house deposit..

That's great hon. Would you have the option of buying the one you are in now ? Or wouldn't you want to ? It's lovely to plan and look forward isn't it. You'll do it I've NO doubt.

IA, should your signature be changed to display 6 weeks rather than 7 weeks? Isn't it exciting planning your future?!?

How exciting to be in a position to start thinking about buying your own house. If you get stuck with mortgage jargon at all, I used to be a mortgage assessor. :)

  • Morning all... it's official.. Ste thinks I'm nuts for looking into mortgages and stuff. But as I said to him I'm looking into the future and this is a real possibility once the girls are at school so there's nothing wrong with being prepared. Plus it's only a pipe dream at the moment...

Paid off Ste's vanquis card today so that's now clear and will be closed once we get the next statement saying it's all clear... :T

We're getting really bad for resisting temptation.... Last night we rented at worlds end on blue ray, got beer and an oven pizza  So again the savings has taken a battering so as it stand we have £181.44 in the bank, plus the £84.54 that will go in tomorrow from the bills account, then add my wages on fri.. but that includes getting guitar hero which will be £45 BUT £35 of that will be going straight onto the egg card from the bingo win. :T So once all that is clear we'll have paid off £328.58 off it which leaves £141.33 left on it.... :T Much easier to pay off in one go.. :D May even be tempted to wait until after xmas to pay that off... we'll see though... we're expecting a child benefit payment on the friday after xmas which would clear that and still have it done before the new year so would still be in our end of 07 target.... but we'll see ;)

  • Well I've just paid £181.44 off the egg card.... feels good(ish) if a bit hollow because it's a part payment. It's just weird not having the boost of clearing it off completely... Also I forgot about Lewis's jabs on tuesday so we won't be able to pay off ALL of the wages. Ah well.. it'll still take a beating :D

Morning! Well done on the big chunk you've paid off the card. :T

Now stop stressing that it wasn't the full amount.

    I mean it.

    Stop.

    NOW!

    :D
