Jobs with Employment Agencies

Has anyone actually got a job through an agency?
Yes but only ever temporary - benefits usually weekly pay
I don't really think they are a waste of time whilst I've never had specific advice one did get me an interview at a company that once said 'no' under different HR management, perhaps it was their sales force behind me! Because they are sales agents not magicians though they might as well have been far as I'm concerned with my last placement! Was saved quite literally from starving and never forgotten it x0 -

If not, what do you think you did (or perhaps had to offer) that meant they didn't do this?
No, have never had calls or visits shielded. However, when I went in to register I looked upon it as an interview - dressed smartly, took in correct paperwork, ID etc in a folder, arrived in good time, etc. Then when I was chatting to the consultant I was friendly and positive about my previous experience. Basically if you can sell yourself to the consultant, then they will find it an easier job to sell you to an employer!0 -
They have never invited me in to an interview with them - they have just occasionally put me forward to vacancies and told me by email about the interviews with employers.
I did go in to an employment agency's office to try and speak to them directly. (with jacket and tie, smart trousers) but couldn;t get past the receptionist.0
