With PowerNI they have quoted around £5700 to £5800 for 16 panels .. meaning a payback of the system in around 8 years.

So anyone listen to OYB (On Your Behalf) on Radio Ulster at the weekend? Well it seems there are issues with the "Free Solar" here in Northern Ireland.. Worth Listening to on the I-Player if you have a chance. If' I've understood this right..... Essentially, by installing these "Free" systems you are "renting" your roof to a business and thus entering into a business agreement for potentially a LONG time (20 years is the norm apparently) Apparently in NI the banks/mortgage companies are having issues with this as there are bylaws in England that allow the resident the right to buy out of the agreement. Here there are not, so it's really up to the company you signed up to and they can essentially charge what they want within reason...... It isn't just one bank doing this either, it's most of them..... They interviewed one woman who was told by the by bank valuer that they'd have to be removed otherwise he couldn't value the house. the woman had to pay £7000 or so to buy the system so she could take it off the garage roof so she could sell her house.......

SO be warned, as I've said before... NOTHING IN LIFE IS FREE !!!

I`d be very tempted going for this Bosch 4kWp kit @ £4250 and doing it ourselves.

All the wiring etc to do and the connection to the grid would need to be priced into that though...... I'll bet NIE don't do that for nought !!
