MMF - Harassment?

Hi all,

What constitutes as harassment from a DCA?
Today, between 11:08 and 11:56 Motor Mile Finance have phoned me 9 times and text twice.

I don't think I've ever had a DCA be so persistent!

Have a good Monday everyone :-)

They are one of the more persistent ones to deal with I'm afraid, depends on the size of debt there chasing you for, if its relatively small, complain to them about there constant calls, its very likely they will ignore you, so then refer it to the FOS, they wont be able to deal with anything to do with DCA behaviour, but by complaining to them, MM will lose its referral fee of £150 to the FOS, so you will of cost them money by writing a letter !!!!;)

You may find the calls stop after this..........!!!

They're absolutely wonderful folk! They once told me that they were going to send someone to my (parents) house (they don't have my address). When I asked them what for and verbally revoked access the response was; "We will take photographs of the living conditions and make a decision as to whether the matter will be escalated to the 'legal department'.

I fell about laughing at the guy on the phone and informed him in no uncertain terms that a photographer is not going to scare me. Especially when it's not even the house I live in.

I`d love to be a "fly on the wall" at one of there brainstorming sessions, I bet there's some real good material there.

On the minus side though, these clowns are allowed to report to the CRA`s about your credit status, its akin to a loan shark been able to set the bank of England's base rate, it should not be allowed.
Some DCA`s do work on a more ethical basis, but MM are certainly one of the bottom feeders, threatening people and generally been abusive to them, is not going to suddenly make said person pay up, infact its going to have exactly the opposite effect.
There really should be more regulation within the debt collection industry, and I would advise anyone to complain to the FSA about them, although they don't deal with individual complaints, if enough people complain, then there will be a crackdown, these bottom feeders need putting out of business once and for all.

So you would pay, and stop the annoying calls, but you won't as the calls are annoying?

    Genius...

The OP didn't say they were annoying, he said they were "rude and threatening", and they are !!
have you ever dealt with this company yourself Bill ?

Is that how you treat your customers in your Bank ?

I suspect the answer to both is no.

They are the most rude, and unreasonable people you can imagine that don't carry guns !!

Its no surprise people will not deal with them, the threats and shouting aside, they are just unreasonable, they wont accept payment plans, unless the letter is written in blood, they don't respond to letters or emails, they just make things so awkward for the customer, make threats to "come round and take the furniture" send a "doorstep collector", you get so pi**ed off with them.
That is not a professional way, in my opinion, in which to conduct business.

    Hello there,

We've had a number of callers recently being chased by Motor Mile. Sadly, your experiences tally up with those of our clients. If you would like to learn a little more about your options, we've a useful fact sheet covering harassment in a bit more detail. You can find it here.

As previously mentioned, do consider involving the Financial Ombudsman Service if you feel that they are treating you unfairly.

    Best wishes,

    David @ National Debtline.
