You've been asked the question - where is it that Bovis have been turning away potential buyers?

Not seen a Bovis site recently but if they're like others they usually have show homes and a sales office containing a salesperson trying to sell them as quick as they can.

Come on wotsthat you know I can't specifically answer your question you'll just have to accept what I say as fact.

If companies don't make profits they'll go bust.

No one ever complains about Apple's excessive (50%+) gross margin on their products.

It's difficult to accept that Bovis are actively trying to keep sales low when they've increased production by 54% in a year. The snubbed buyers will just go to other builders where, in my experience, sales agents really really want to sell you a house.

    what evidence do you have?

why don't new entrants come into the market to make a killing with the high prices?
why don't you and your mates do that and become millionaires over night for doing practically nothing?
The big builders already own a vast amount of suitable land, thereby preventing new entrants from entering the market. They would rather sit on the land undeveloped than let the competition have it.

I'm not sure if my diy skills are quite up to building thousands of houses. I'm not sure if the banks would lend me the millions to start a house building firm seeing as I have no experience in the building trade. Do you think they would CLAPTON?

Average new house sells for about 200,000 so you don't need millions.

Half a dozen mates only need to contribute say 15k each
to make it a goer and to can subcontract the actual building.

Given you know that builders make huge profits for not building surely it's worth your while to find out about building (well you don't actually need to build do you ?)

There is a parliamentary group looking into how to unlock building on the vast plots of land owned by housing companies.

No doubt it will involve more taxpayer cash. However, as a parliamentary group is looking into it, it seems there is certainly an issue.

the major builders have a very small proportion of suitable land.
however the government refuses to release sufficient land for building

    given your views,
-how do you account for the fact that several of the building companies almost went bust when they were building very little
-how do you account the increase in building recently

How many major builders went bust?
