You have a classic case of DFW burnout! The enthusiasm of the first few weeks wears off and the light at the end of the tunnel seems further away than ever! However, we have all had days like this and the key is not to give in to them. It is not always easy, and things are thrown at us that make us wonder whether we should even bother, but stay strong. Keep plugging away, and you will get there.

If you think you are taking one step forwards and two steps back, think about it - if this is happening, then you are only one step further back than you were at the beginning of the day. Pre DFW days, you would not have taken that one step forward, but would still have had two steps back. So - even on a bad day, you are making progress!!!

Does that make sense to anyone else but me - reading back I am not so sure!!! Hope you have a better day though x

Um..did take me 2 reads to get it, but I think the jist is that you are still advancing. Keep plugging at it, there are plenty of people on here behind you.

  • Chin up matey, I feel exactly the same.

I'm going to try and stop coming on here as I think its actually making me ill.
I've thought about nothing else for the past 2 months since my LBM. It needs to be in moderation. Its deffo been affecting my work. Dont go shopping!! I nearly cracked and at the weekend and nearly replaced my knackered old mobile that I've had for years with a shiny new one.... :-( I know I would have felt worse as I would have let myself down.

I've crossed so many bridges and made so many changes I'm now in a lull just waiting for each payday so I can pay off alittle more.

On a positive note I've paid off £1000 in 2 months! No more Barclays O/D!
    Starting debt @ LBM: £8436.51 (8/5/7)
    Barclaycard: £5804.52 (May 07) - 6.9% LOB Now: £5315.25
    Egg: £1640.99 (May 07) - 1.9% May 08 - Now: £1242.69
    [strike]Barclays O/D: £991dr (May 07) - 16.9% - Now: £0.00[/strike]
    Debt August 07 £6557.94
Aim: To Clear Barclays OD by Nov 2007! Realistic DFD: August 2009

    Hi Poppy,

As others have said we all have our down days, and after the first couple of weeks it really can hit home as you've made a lot of the 'big' changes & are getting down to the nitty gritty of your new budget.

On a practical note - you could request the DCAs to only communicate with you in writing (refuse to answer security questions if they persist in ringing you) as it means you can tackle the letters when you're feeling up to it, you won't get bullied into agreeing to paying more than you can afford and you've got the paper trail so they can't say you've agreed to something you haven't!

You've paid off £300 in 1 week - which is a tremendous amount to start with - give yourself a pat on the back (and you could always allow yourself 50p from your £4 for a bar of chocolate...)

  • It definitely happens... I had what I call a paranoid day yesterday lol where I just couldn't think of anything but how the hell am I going to pay it all off?Drives me mad some days (still)....

But today, I feel more in control... and you will. You just need to take a step back sometimes and think that you've started to tackle the problem - you're taking things one step at a time and it can't get worse than they were at your LBM.

    Keep going!

Hi, Poppyjay, just so you know your not the only one feeling fed up, to be honest I was nealry posted something like "This is making me ill" until I read your post and the replies from everyone to you have really been applicable to me also which is good !!! but you know something, with all the support of everyone on this forum it REALLY does make a difference, we all are going through similar problems a lot with similar or same creditors and you must not feel like you are alone, you are definately in the right place and always be free to share as in my experiance there is always someone who can put your mind at rest.

Anyway , just wanted to say keep your head held high and you will get through this, i know its got going to be easy but I just have to think that I am paying my debt off and eventually will be debt free and never to return to that dark place again :)

All the best , oh and thanks to all the posts previous to this one, I really did find them helpful !! Thankyou !
