Alliance/Santander mortgage query

I have a mortgage with Alliance and Leciester / Santander. We regularly overpay (monthly and lump sums when able to!), however, we only get statements, by letter once per year.
Is there anyway to increase the frequency or even better, do they do online banking so i can check that way?
The reason being, it would be nice to show the OH the figures as she is keen to spend the overpayment cash elsewhere

Genius! In fact, why bother having forums at all? Why bother asking others who may have been in the same situation and know the answer?
So everyone, don't bother posting here for advice, go straight to the source (even if you just a faniced a little chat as well as asking a question).
Thanks for your help.0 -
If Santander show mortgage balances online. Open a bank current account with them. Then you'll be able to monitor the balance daily. _party_0

Oh, touchy. Often the "bleeding obvious" is the best response. Why accept someone opinion (however, well intended) when you can ask the lender?
If you did ask the lender they would probably tell you they acknowledge every overpayment by mail with a revised monthly mortgage payment, or you can use one of the widely available mortgage overpayment calculators for both anticipated one off or regular overpayments. But then again..........0 -

No, they don't. I've been overpaying for years and the only thing i get is an annual statementI also use the calcs, but my query can i view the balance online with A&L/Santander.
Yes, i can call and ask, but i thought someone here may know the answer, it isn't touchy - honest, but if we apply your logic to every other scenario, then this forum would soon close:
"I've just split with hubby, xx kids, mortgage etc. I've never been alone or out of work, how and what do i claim?"
Response "call and find out" - er.................not useful or helpful.
A better response? Have you checked xxxx website? My experience you can claim x, y and z etc etc etc etc.
Anyway.......................!!0 -
No, as far as I know. I couldn't view my a&l balance online. once we moved and ported to a Santander product we could. The A&L and Santander systems are separate, again, afaik.

No, they don't.
So you already know the answer?
Lots of people provide good advice on this forum. In your case it is very specific and only Abbey/Santander will have the definitive answer (perhaps?).
Now my advice! I have an Abbey mortgage and receive written confirmation of ALL capital repayments and new monthly mortgage payments. You say you don't..............consequently, ask the lender, which is where all this began.0 -
Oh dear, 'no they don't' was in reference to them sending out mail to me saying i have made an overpayment.
I would like to know can i view the mortgage online - but this has been answered now, so thanks.0 -
The only type of Santander mortgage that can be viewed online is a Flexible Offset mortgage. No other unfortunately.I am a Mortgage Adviser
