The attachment for my Kenwood Chef arrived Friday and has been in the Freezer ever since. I went to make some ice cream this morning but discovered that there was a 'swishing' sound inside the freezer bowl.
I'm assuming the noise is coming from whatever sort of gel Kenwood use; but I'm wondering whether or not there should be that 'swishing' noise and whether it indicates that the gel has not set properly yet.

I don't have one but as I understand it it's the same gel as is used in freezer blocks for cool bags, in which case I think that it should set solid and shouldn't swish about0

I have this attachment and must confess I've never noticed a swishing noise but maybe I am just unobservant!
Why not try with some cheap fruit yoghurt? If it churns and sets you have some frozen yoghurt for dessert, if it doesn't, pop the bowl back in the freezer for longer and just eat the yoghurt as normal yoghurt0 -
I think the problem could be my freezer.
Bought a cheep and cheerful freezer thermometer yesterday morning and have been testing the temperature over the period. Even with it sitting in the middle draw and to the back of the freezer all night I'm getting a reading just touching -18c and the instruction manual states 'The freezing bowl should be placed in a freezer that is operating at a temperature of -18c or below for 24 hours before use.' And as I've said mine is just about sitting at -180 -
I have one of these. It doesn't swish, it freezes solid far as I can tell.0
