Im sick but need my wage

Options
Hey everyone.

I got rushed into hospital for surgery on friday and now i need to take 2 weeks off work to recover. However my sick pay is gonna leave me £200 worse off.

Im currently using most of my wage on direct debits and dont think im going to cope next month.

Any ideas what i can do ? Hard recovering when im worried with money

Hello, and hope you are feeling better physically.

I would ring the people that your payments are due to and explain the situation. Ask if you can pay extra once you are back at work to catch up instead.

By pre-empting the situation rather than just letting payments bounce, you will probably get a better response.

Also, could your bank increase your overdraft to see you through the next few weeks, that way you could make the payments without incurring bank charges.

Good luck and let us know how you get on. Hope you make a quick recovery too.

Hi, Just wanted to say I wish you better. I know its difficult but you need to try and rest as you will not be able to get back to work unless you stop stressing and actually let the healing process do its thing.

Can you suspend the direct debits and make just a token payment onto one of youe creditors? I am not sure of your circumstances (DMP, IVA ect) but there isnt really much you can do if you have had surgery.

The only other thing I can suggest is ave you got anything you can sell in the meantime to keep you afloat? Maybe list some stuff on Ebay why you off if it doesnt effect you moving around around to much.

I would also try telephoning some of your creditors and letting them know the situation. Could you possibly take a months Mortgage holiday?

Wish you the best with it

Thanks very much for your wishes.

I think i might speak to my bank and ask for a temporary overdraft increase till things settle again like you said hypno.

I think it would also be a good idea for to get rid of some unused items onto ebay like my old consoles and games etc, thanks Crown.

Thanks again for the help, its hard to think straight when im not well and stressed :)
