For those with green beans, beans and more beans, here is a good recipe to use up 4 double handfuls. Just had this again tonight, heavenly.
This is usually cooked in a potjiie pot (bit like a cauldron) over coals but works in a slow cooker.
Green Bean Potjie. (this makes a lot but it is equally nice, if not better, heated up)
1kg minced beef ( tonight I used t’s finest burgers from the freezer and some turkey mince I found at the bottom)
4 double handfuls of sliced green beans
4 chopped onions.
packet of bacon, chopped
2 handfuls of grated cheese (I don’t always bother with this)
1 cup light soy sauce (can use less)
Gravy granules
Quite a few diced peeled potatoes
Pepper, salt isn’t needed as soy sauce is salty enough.
In a frying pan brown mince & bacon, add onions and brown. Put in slow cooker.
Place potatoes & green beans in layers on mince, add soy sauce, do not stir.
Switch slow cooker on to a long setting of over 6 hours.
When potatoes are done add some gravy granules mixed with ½ cup water, add grated cheese and pour into SC, cook for another hour or so. It’s difficult to judge how much bisto to use as it depends how much liquid there is in the pot but the rice soaks up any excess liquid.
Mix well before serving with rice and crusty bread.
Cheers, will try this as have loads of beans0 -

6 x Uncle Ben's Classic Basmati Rice (250g) £8.00 £6.00
A v M womble sada 3 for £4 or £1.58 each.
Showing multibuy on morries but msm is showing £1.69 each
6 x Uncle Ben's Classic Basmati Rice (250g) £8.00 £6.00
A v S straight £1 each in sainsbugs.
I initially thought that's because there had been a price increase in Morries since Wednesday. But, no, I've checked morries.com and it seems mbuy missing on msm.co.uk on the Morries side. APG does not use msm.co.uk for Morries prices so we are okay (at least there - but wish it did because the Maris Piper potatoes...anyway).
But why is it showing 2 for £2? (Or maybe it's 3 for £3?) I thought they were 2 for £3 in Morries - indeed, that mbuy price is showing on m.com.
2 for £3 in M, as far as I'm aware, last Wednesday. APG appears to be going £1 each on some mbuy, but not clear how many you must buy. No good anyway, as these go down below £1 in Morries when they are on their best offer. And you can get same vs Sains. at the moment and only need to buy 1. So, looks like a bit of a glitch on the Morries pricing on the APG, but not very good and not one we can use.:(
Although - are there any other mbuys on that comp. and is anything triggering a £1 price for the UBs on that comp? Bet (rather boringly) they've just picked up 2 for £2 for M on the UB or on that specific UB anyway. This womble is from today isn't it - it's not a historical womble?0 -
Sadly there were no new mags out in my sada but went with the filled pasta anyway as we like them. Frijj caramel is one to avoid.
