  • Morning all

DD safely deposited at nursery so OH and I are away out for a date morning. Doesn't quite have the same ring as date night but anyways we'll take it!

Said I'd give him the morning off from making breakfast. His reaction was  you're going to make breakfast?? Then it dawned on him that I was going to take him out :rotfl: :rotfl:

    for now

Weather is poor here too mhoc. I might have to rearrange the gardening day I had planned:o

Not sure why the weather would interfere with you tidying up your front garden ;)

    Hello all

I know this happens to a lot of people about not getting T's DTD, so I thought I'd share my first time of "having the DTD battle".

I walked into an T Express, and picked up coffee that was marked BOGOF. After paying, I noticed the offer didn't come off. Asked a member of staff who went to fetch the manager. I showed him the SEL and then followed him to the till.

I had thought he was doing DTD because he refunded the full amount paid, but when I went to put the items in my bag, he said "no I offered you a refund" (without actually asking me!). I said I thought you were honouring DTD? He firstly said I can only do it on fresh fruit & veg, not on coffee. And I said, no, that's the national policy and pointed it out. Luckily it was right in front of me, stickered to the till!. Then he said it would make my till short?? I insisted that it is national policy and said "As a manager you should be following the policy". He didn't move, but I stood firm. He insisted that he could not do that for me.

We got to the stage where I thought I'm not going to get anywhere with this guy, and asked for the HO number - he gave me the store number instead! I took his name and later called the proper HO number. James, I think his name was, said yes you are absolutely correct, it applies also to promotional offers. He asked me for how much I had spent and without hesitation offered a £10 Moneycard :j :j All sorted within 3 minutes! He said Tesco would pass on the message about the DTD policy to the staff. Very happy that I didn't back down and in the end I am still winning - a total spend of 0.96 (after the RF), 6 CCP and a tenner to spend for next time. I've learnt not to give in when you know you are right, just keep your cool, be polite and firm and keep hammering the national policy to them. You may not succeed at store level, but you probably will at HO level!

Opinions please - was it right/rude to say "As a manager you should be following the policy" ?

    Thanks guys x

    Always a difficult one.

    Did you use your clubcard?

Ours is a 24 hour store but I don't know what you would do about an overcharge if you shopped at 3 or 4 in the morning - don't think CS desk is manned at that time and I assume that only SS tills working.

  • Good morning all, a bit wet here today.

Glad we brought the Barbie back last night and got it covered. That was one busy weekend, the badminton club my OH is Chairman of has an exchange arrangement with another club near Frankfurt and it was their turn to come here this year, so a packed weekend but fun :D

Quite funny reading Nanny's post, one of the germans tied one on a bit on Saturday night, Sunday morning he was blaming how ill he looked on the water:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Good morning. Not caught up yet. DD wants a baking session today. Has anyone a good recipe for caramel - like on twix, to go on the top of caramel shortbread. I have a good shortbread recipe already. She wants to make this, cupcakes & cheese scones. I have already made 2 shepherds pies, prepped the dinner veg, prepped a pineapple and a melon for nibbles and have a chicken spicy pasta on cooking for later in the week & the freezer. That is the last of the peppers used and most of the morrisons fruit & veg finished. Could do with the MOC in papers again on Thursday.
I have a C&C to pick up at 8.00 (more milky way starts - hope the are subbed to galaxy counters like yesterdays). That is all cinema visits sorted now until Xmas. Can not believe how much this is saving us. Thanks again to OP. At this price I do not mind DD taking a friend. We went to see How to train your dragon yesterday. We had a MOC for 1 free popcorn & 1 free drink so DD was very happy.
What I do is boil a can of condensed milk unopened in boiling water for 2hours
Be careful not to let water boil dry or the can will exploded and it is very hot once done but makes a lovely sweet caramel
