Creditor demanding my address

Hi everyone. I've got a few outstanding debts, and agreed to pay back my creditors in monthly installments. I've always paid on the 1st of each month and I have no plan to change this, as I want to clear off the debts.

I've moved about three times since last contacting some of my creditors. I want to get in touch with them to put forward a few full and final settlement offers. I am just worried that they will ask for my phone number, address etc. I had to change my sim a few years ago as there was a relentless stream of messages and telephone calls at all times of the day, even with the repayment agreements in place, and I don't want that to start again.

If they ask for my address, must I give them my current address, or can I refuse to give them my address? I'm happy to give my email address, and I want to pay back the debts, either by installments or as a full and final settlement.

Thanks :)

  • I think they will need to give them your address, if not, I think they can trace you and find out where you live.

Give them your address, but not your phone number.

State you only deal in writing as you need a copy of all correspondence for your records.

If they don't have your address and issue court papers, you would get a CCJ and never know. They could find it if they wanted to.

  • I'll probably contact them and give them my address, but I'll have to talk to my wife about answering the door etc. I'm still paying monthly amounts so I don't think it will get to that stage, and I want to clear the debt, I'm not disputing it.

The next step is to actually contact my creditors. I usually find it hard to even get through to them in a free way, as I prefer to use email. There's no way I'd ring a premium number as I can't afford to pay more that the basic package I pay for on my landline, but hopefully I'll be able to find a postal address for them.

    Thanks for your replies.

Also state that any requests to call you or threats of/actual doorstep visits will result in a formal complaint.

Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Going ex-directory, or buying a home phone you can block calls on, also helps !!;)

If you give them your current address it will be linked to all your previous ones and as such carry the sh*t that is marked on there.

How about using an accommodation address where you can pick up your mail at your leisure?
