Fruit & vegetable wine

While on holiday, I bought an old (1971) book on winemaking and it has recipes for fruit and vegetable wine.

If anyone wants any recipes, let me know and I'll post. Some of the wines include apple, carrot, damson, marrow etc.

This is just the right time of year for fruit picking too. There are plenty of blackberries and elderberries to be found, and they're excellent for making hedgerow port. Just add sugar, water and yeast. You can't go wrong!

No elderberries and few blackberries here yet, but would welcome recipe for apple wine as the one that DD4 made last year is still fermenting...we were hoping for a slightly faster bottle ready time.

I only made apple wine once and it took months to ferment, so these days I mix apples with other ingredients. A little orange and/or grapefruit juice adds to the acidity and speeds things up a little.
