Thousands of copies of the new Harry Potter book worth around £1m have been stolen from a trading estate in northern England, police revealed today.
"A trailer containing around £1m worth of books was stolen from Newton-le-Willows trading estate on Merseyside at around 10.30pm on Sunday," a spokeswoman for Merseyside police said.
"The trailer was recovered yesterday in Salford, Greater Manchester, minus its load," she added.
A spokesman for supermarket chain Asda told the Press Association they believed the stolen shipment was destined for them.

Watch out for book spoilers.
This is from 2003.
Tescos are selling it for £8.87 as well, so I guess asdas argument that they are being penalized for being cheap is a bit... well... rubish.Nothing ever lasts forever...0 -
yeh i woz about to say that. if people did want a spoiler then theres one flying around the net. its one where somebody has photographed all the pages!0

it's nothing to do with their pricing and everything to do with the fact that asda's not paid an invoice from bloomsbury (the publisher). can't really blame the publisher for taking this line if a company the size of asda/walmart can't be bothered to pay their invoices on time. well done bloomsbury for standing up to them! :TMy signature has been removed by the authorities. But its not even the real one is it, its just one that someone has made up!
PS- why is this on the shop but dont drop forum?0 -
More like because Asda are going to be charging £17.99 for it - they have obviosuly not worked out a dea. Who is going to pay £18 when you can get it for £9 on tesco.com? I have a business and I have cancelled orders at the last minute if I have found people selling something cheaper than me - especially at half the price, thatis not an investment! They'd have to sell at cost to match Tesco price. I think that is more the reason - that Asda are not getting it at a promotional price and they are a bit !!!!ed off about it!0

lol very nice of Bloomsbury to take action on this. Shame on Asda, they will have basically lost a big opportunity of sales. So glad I pre-ordered mine at Waterstones lol.Graduated this year.
