Advice = affordability checks = increased chance of rejection.

As amn said on a similar case yesterday, you'll shoot yourselves in the foot if you do this in a branch on an advised basis and fail the affordability checks.

Same products are available online, all you have to do is look at them and pick one.

I briefly thought this was that other thread!
    Do it online :)
  • Thanks for that, I think it's good to know if I can convince that this is a better option for us both believe me I will!

Can I put a scenario to you both and see what you think? If we went into branch and asked what we could get as a continuation but I don't have my bank statements with me (just wage slips), therefore we come away with an idea of whats on offer but don't actually give them the go ahead, can we still look online at this point?

Also are the offers that are online actually the same as what they offer you in branch?

They do not need, nor ask for bank statements.

Only payslips, or other proof of income.

They use the ONS average figures for outgoings.

Deals are same via branches as online. So why do you have to go traipsing down there just to point at a quote and say "that one?"

  • So if I do go into the branch they are unlikely to ask me to send in my statements after the meeting anyway?
  • We are just doing a renewal btw not asking for any further fund etc

    Yes - affordability check = payslips, SA302s.

    No - bank statements.

You are being assessed for the new product only and that requires an affordability check if you insist on going in a branch and making it an advised transaction.

My OH refuses to do things like this online and likes to get the advise from a person. I have to respect that and go with it, I am aware that the situation is my own stupid error so I can't really argue. She wants to go in and see what's available and go from there with the decision. I'd do online but I think all things being said, with my stupidity being the cause I can only go and see what we get offered there first. I have only been asked to supply wage slips for this meeting so I guess it can't harm going?

Like a similar poster last week you OH is about to shoot you both in the foot.

If she wants advice, engage a broker, don't go in to the branch.

You can just do a renewal online.....
Why do you want hassle instead of spending 5 minutes online?
