Sick Pay from company

Please can you help; I have been off from work for 3 weeks due to a work related incident, which meant a hospital stay with an angiogram & stent placement in an artery in my heart followed by 1 week at home to recover.

Could you inform me what minimum sick pay I am entitled to please, I have hospital paper work for the two weeks I stayed there, and a doctors note for 1 week while recuperating at home.

I have been working for this company for 5 months; so far they have offered 8 working days sick pay, any recommendations and information greatly appreciated.

You will have to check your contract. There is no statutory right to company sick pay.

If it is work related however, there may be a chance of compensation but you would have to check with the CAB or a lawyer for more info on that. Not something I've ever dealt with.

Do you have a link for this info, Madjock? I've never come across anything which would suggest there was a legal entitlement to full pay if off sick after an industrial accident and if it is a legal entitlement, I'd like to read up on it. :)

    Thank you,

You don't say what line of work you do however it may be the case that your employer has a duty do report the incident under RIDDOR.
Consider submitting a claim for IIDB if it's appropriate.
