Hi.
I am coming to the end of my fixed rate period (3 years) with the Leeds building society, I have looked at their rates for new customers and they are very competitive, I phoned them and they told me to phone back closer to the end of the period and they would see what rates are available,
Does anyone have any experience in staying will their current provider and getting a good rate, in the past I have always just moved to a new lender

As suggested, closer to the end date ask your current lender what customer retention products it has available (don't look at new customer or remortgage rates on the website as these don't apply to you).
Some lenders do show the retention rates for "existing customers not moving home", or something similar to that.
Once you have that, you can then look at remortgage products for a move to another lender to give a comparison. Don't forget to take into account any fees or costs of transferring.I am a mortgage broker.
